Domesticated Foxes…

So the city received a request to amend our animal control ordinances to allow for domesticated foxes. Since I know nothing of domesticated foxes, I simply asked animal control to weigh in. Then it got weird…

On Friday, I received a call from the sister of the person that owned the domesticated fox wondering if Animal Control had came by a picked up the fox since she found the cage open and the fox gone. I called Animal Control and they said that they had not picked up the fox and would not without the owners knowledge. On Friday evening, a neighbor noticed something on his porch and thought it was a raccoon. The animal ran into his back yard and he noticed that it was a black fox. Since the animal was friendly, he thought that it was probably rabid and he got a bow killed it with an arrow. He than put the fox in a freezer and when he saw the newspaper article about the fox, he called the police department and reproted it. I talked to the sister of the owner this morning on whether her brother still wanted to address the COW. She will check and let me know.

I did not see that coming…

  1. Within the city limits no domesticated wild animals. If we were to allow this who would be the one to say determine if it were domestic. One could also if this were allowed want other wild animals and say they were domestic.
