Fact Check: $85 million, really?

Did the areas around 40th and 48th really cost $85 million?

Yes they did.  The figures include the interchanges in the area and some of the connecting roads.

Here are some costs that staff has helped me gather.  The shaded cells represent requests for information that were not responded to.  Public Works Director Richard Freese estimates these amounts at about $5,000,000.

Of this total, 75% of the city share was intended to be paid for by development, but those collections have been delayed by the economy and reduced by lawsuit settlements.
