Two Rochester businesses fined for child labor violations

Wow this was in the Post Bulletin Wednesday.  I only read the teaser online, but this is really disappointing.  I look forward to reading the rest of the story.

Two Rochester businesses were fined by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry for not complying with child labor laws.

In October, KW Billman Co. was fined $6,000 because the company was illegally employing two minors younger than 18 in “occupations hazardous or detrimental to their well-being as defined by rule.”

Last April, CMZ Inc., which owns both City Cafe and Newt’s, was fined $3,750 for employing three children younger than 14. Two of them, including a 10-year-old, worked in an area where alcohol was served.

Edit:  While I read the rest of the story and it didn’t say much more.  I just feel there is no excuse for ignoring or being ignorant of our child labor laws.
