Gord Hume recently told Rochester that water is “magic” for urban design. Minneapolis gets it. Here is how they are planning to make there waterfront even greater over the next generation.
By comparison Rochester voted to deny a Joe Weis parking ramp (we pay, of course) on the banks of the Zumbro by just a pathetic 4-3 margin just last year. Minneapolis is planing on how to maximize its waterfront over the next 50 years and we think parking ramps make for a great riverfront.
You can see 4 videos about the competing proposals for the Mississippi Riverfront. In my opinion this is great vision.
