Of course bikers have the right to use any roads, however simple modification make routes far more safe for bikers. Cyclists now have a direct route between Apache Mall and Mayo High School. Between snow shoveling shifts, I think I will post some updates today. At the last City Council meeting the City Council adopted the ROCOG 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan. This plan is updated every 5 years and lays out the future of transportation in Rochester. Read the rest of this entry »

It is past 12:30 AM here, but one last post from the NLC. I took some time tonight and bought a $5 B-Cycle membership. This is a system similar to Minneapolis where you can check out a bike at one location commute and return it at another.

On October 13, I was fortunate enough to spend some time touring Bicycle Infrastructure in Minneapolis with some public works and planning officials. We saw their new bike share program, bike lanes, bike boulevards, the Midtown Greenway, and a 4 to 3 conversion in an area with 50% more traffic than 16th Street SE.
